Safe delete docker tmp folder

I had to cancel a docker build 2 times during “uploading context” phase.
I figure out what I was doing wrong, but know I have some huge files in docker tmp folder.

Can I safely delete these folders? What about deleting the whole “/var/lib/docker/tmp” folder?

  • Docker: Npm install very slow in Ubuntu host
  • Docker container is not able to populate SECRET_TOKEN env variable for rails app
  • Building the MongoDB Docker image
  • Rabbitmq in Kubernetes cluster
  • Elastic Beanstalk with multiple environments and URL routing between them
  • Run docker build in ubuntu:16.04 docker
    • /var/lib/docker/tmp/docker-builder185153115/
    • /var/lib/docker/tmp/docker-builder737796513/

  • Why is Play application not able to resolve dependencies from inside docker container?
  • Cannot connect to the Docker daemon on Windows 7
  • DOCKER: cannot pull from my private registry
  • Committing container changes of files generated in /workspace (even using makefile) doesn't persist into new instances of the image
  • Go imageproxy inaccessible from docker container
  • ECS Agent starting Docker container doesn't complete. Manual start successful
  • One Solution collect form web for “Safe delete docker tmp folder”

It is safe to delete tmp folder.

But you will need to restart docker service afterwards

Docker will be the best open platform for developers and sysadmins to build, ship, and run distributed applications.
