Run dockerd as with non-default group in centos6 as a service?

I tried to run dockerd with a different group as the default group (not dockerd) so I can have an existing group run docker without having to sudo.

I am on centOS6.

  • Docker fails to start due to “volume store metadata database: timeout”

  • Install Oracle on docker centos container: Insufficient disk space
  • How to install docker on CentOS 7?
  • Cannot access Centos sshd on Docker
  • I checked my /etc/init.d and /etc/rc.d/init.d there is no serviced there

I wonder how does service / systemctl find out about docker/dockerd then? I thought the only way I can do the above is to modify the start/stop scripts?

Can anyone shed some lights on how may I proceed with this?
