Linking containers with Mesos JSON file

I am trying to link my application container to my DB container when sending the JSON task description to the Marathon framework.

I’ve read up on this question from last year: Linked Docker Containers with Mesos/Marathon

  • Accelerate build of application in Docker container via CircleCI
  • Running Supervisord on Ubuntu in Docker
  • share images between host and child docker
  • on osx, docker run -v $(pwd):… does not get expanded
  • docker-piwik - unable to access document
  • docker-compose scale service with independent volumes
  • The question is: I know Fig will be able to help me with this but I just wanna know if there is a way to link them on the Marathon framework? HAProxy might work?

  • XDummy in Docker container
  • VirtualBox and Nginx very slowly serving cached static JS and CSS files
  • Nginx in Docker container gets `connection reset` error, but works fine without a container
  • docker build is not work
  • Why is bin/sh not found on my alpine based docker-compose build?
  • Travis fails to stop Docker containers
  • One Solution collect form web for “Linking containers with Mesos JSON file”

If you want to link two containers, they have to run on the same host. Marathon currently does not support that. To me it sounds like you don’t really need that. Instead you could just use service discovery mechanisms to make your db accessible to the other service. For this you can use haproxy, or try mesos-dns.

Docker will be the best open platform for developers and sysadmins to build, ship, and run distributed applications.
