Windows 2016: Docker container error

I’m using docker on Windows server 2016, I have created a container using the “microsoft/windowsservercore:latest” image. On this image i have installed “Print-Server” role but when I try to call “Get-Printer” cmdlet I obtain an error with the spooler service. These are the commands used to recreate the problem: docker run -d –name testspoolererror1 microsoft/windowsservercore:latest ping -t localhost docker exec […]

Windows 10 Docker Host – Display GUI application from Linux Container

I’m trying to use Windows 10 as my host and run Docker containers that contain gui based applications and display them using X11 forwarding or something similar. Pretty much all of the information I’ve found online deal with Linux Host to Linux Container (example – http://fabiorehm.com/blog/2014/09/11/running-gui-apps-with-docker) where the socket / x11 authority are exposed. Other […]

Difference between containers (Docker) and IIS

I am learning about containers (mostly Docker) since it is coming to windows. And the benefits seem very similar to IIS. I work behind a firewall building apps for my company (Line of Business). We have a bunch of VMs that will each host a family of web services. One VM can have 20+ services […]

Docker Quickstart Terminal fails to start VirtualBox VM in Windows 10

I’ve tried several times to start the Docker VM via the Docker Quickstart Terminal. After deleting the default virtual machine in VirtualBox I receive the following output Creating Machine default… Running pre-create checks… Creating machine… (default) OUT | Creating VirtualBox VM… (default) OUT | Creating SSH key… (default) OUT | Starting VirtualBox VM… Error creating […]

Deploying a .NET Core Web API using Docker on Elastic Beanstalk

I am trying to deploy a bare minimum testing .NET Core Web API using Docker to Elastic Beanstalk without any success. The source code I’ve created a brand new .NET Core Web API project in Visual Studio and left the generated example code untouched. After that I added a Dockerfile to the root of the […]

Automatically mounting host folders other than c:\Users in Docker images in Windows

I’ve got a program that needs to automatically install & manage some Docker containers on Windows with minimal user input. It needs to automatically setup Docker to mount arbitrary Windows folders. It needs to do this from a clean install, where the Docker VM cannot be assumed to have been created. Docker by default will […]

Docker image for Windows

Has any one tried building a docker image for Windows (7.1/8)? The closest answer available for me is from ScottGu’s Blog. See here http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/docker-and-microsoft-integrating-docker-with-windows-server-and-microsoft-azure But I was wondering, is there any one else tried to build the same?

Docker for Windows error: “Hardware assisted virtualization and data execution protection must be enabled in the BIOS”

I’ve installed Docker and I’m getting this error when I run the GUI: Hardware assisted virtualization and data execution protection must be enabled in the BIOS Seems like a bug since Docker works like a charm from the command line, but I’m wondering if anyone has a clue about why this is happening? Before you […]
