Jenkins – Dockerfile build upon another dockerfile in private repo

I have a Jenkins install using the ‘Docker build & publish’ plugin however it seems to have an issue building a Dockerfile that references another Dockerfile in a private repository in Docker Hub.

For example, my project builds upon a ‘project_base’ image that has dependencies that don’t change. When my project dockerfile tries to pull ‘FROM org/project_base:version’ it complains about the username/password.

  • Dockerfile necessary? Advisable?
  • localhost:8000 resolves to localhost and “this site can't be reached” but localhost:8000/services works
  • How to use multiple base images with Docker?
  • Spring Cloud Config Server Won't Serve from Local Filesystem
  • How to transfer large files between dockerized services?
  • How to create an automated build after the DockerHub redesign?
  • Both projects are in the same Docker Hub org, and therefore the credentials are the same. So why it can get the project, but not project_base I have no idea.

Does anyone know how to get around this?

  • Cannot start container: [8] System error: exec format error
  • Mongodb official image errno:111 Connection refused when trying to create replicaset
  • Cannot push to artifactory docker cloud repository
  • Docker exec command not using the mounted directory for /
  • ECS agent can not successfully pull image from ECR
  • Emscripten “incoming” installation unusually big
  • Docker will be the best open platform for developers and sysadmins to build, ship, and run distributed applications.
