Jenkins – Dockerfile build upon another dockerfile in private repo

I have a Jenkins install using the ‘Docker build & publish’ plugin however it seems to have an issue building a Dockerfile that references another Dockerfile in a private repository in Docker Hub.

For example, my project builds upon a ‘project_base’ image that has dependencies that don’t change. When my project dockerfile tries to pull ‘FROM org/project_base:version’ it complains about the username/password.

  • Private Docker Registry Not Connectible to Shell & Web Management UI?
  • docker-compose up : Encountered errors while bringing up the project
  • docker-compose scale with nginx and without environment variable
  • using smart_open lib with a s3 docker image
  • Cannot install RWeka package in docker image
  • how to protect a django web app deployed in elastic beanstalk docker nginx using password
  • Both projects are in the same Docker Hub org, and therefore the credentials are the same. So why it can get the project, but not project_base I have no idea.

Does anyone know how to get around this?
