How to get a docker history from an image that has not been pulled yet?

Since docker history is great to see how an image has been created or if it’s applicable, it seems to only available for local, already pulled images.

Q: Is there a way to get a peak into a docker image without the need of downloading it?

  • How to test dockerignore file?
  • Docker CPU and memory too low
  • Docker run override entrypoint with shell script which accepts arguments
  • i don't manage to push a docker image into openshift docker registry
  • GitLab local build using gitlab-runner
  • dockerized cassandra: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
  • 💡 Perfectly it would fit my needs if I would be able to inspect the “Dockerfile”, but I bet this is more impossible than just looking at the history of an image 😉

  • How stable are version-tagged docker baseimages? Should I make my own copy?
  • How can the current build context directory be referenced inside of a Dockerfile?
  • Dockerfile dependency installed properly but resulting image doesn't have it
  • How to frontend two wordpress sites running through two docker containers using nginx.
  • Docker Network inside a container partially working
  • Running 2 services
  • Docker will be the best open platform for developers and sysadmins to build, ship, and run distributed applications.
